Somewhere on the coast between the sea of indie-folk an the americana dunes you can find Aidan & the Wild, the self-proclaimed DIY king of the Netherlands and musical alias of Eindhovenaar Diederk van den Brandt. At a young age he encountered the wonders of the strings and came out a changed man. That deep-rooted love slowly developed into a broad spectrum of folky instruments, amongst which the guitar, the pedal steel and the banjo, which he all tought himself to play. Not only did he build his musical carreer from the ground up, he also took it upon him to build a complete house from scratch, including a bonafide recording studio. When he’s not performing or doing construction chances are big you will find him behind the microphones in the studio, tinkering on his own songs or taking the producer chair for other artists. That love and dedication for music seeps into the deepest crevices of his own songs.
Autobiographical works that center honesty, embraces rough edges and where the song is bigger than the ego. Delivered with a bag full of guitarskills and a raw, unique voice that embraces gentleness.
The in 2021 released self-produced debut album “Revelation Never Came” was met with high praise, about which famous Radio 2 DJ Leo Blokhuis said: “…must be born with the guitar on his lap, because that man plays so terrific.”
He is currently working on his sophomore album, a conceptual record about the building of his house. The record will be produced by Chris Bond, the British producer most renowned for his work on Ben Howard’s platinum-selling records “Every Kindom” and “I Forget Where We Were”. A collaboration of dreams!

"With 10 songs Aidan & the Wild makes the world a little bit better, especially because of the convincing positivity the songs convey. A record that conquers your heart from the first second onwards en from which the love and attention to the creating process seep through to the listener"
OOR Magazine
"The record has a full sound, but is never over-produced. The songs on the cutting edge of country, folk(rock) and indie procure images of the America that every fan of roots music dreams of.”(transl.)
Eindhovens Dagblad
"What It Ain’t, a song from Eindhoven-based Aidan & the Wild’s debut album Revelation Never Came, is undoubtedly among the most beautiful ones that appeared in the Dutch Americana scene this year.”(transl.)
“Sometimes it’s hard to believe that certain music comes from the Netherlands. In such cases it sounds so authentically American that we find it difficult to believe the artists comes from Eindhoven, for example. The same counts for Revelation Never Came, the first full-length album (after previous EP’s Homegrown and Iliad) by Aidan & the Wild, the band surrounding Diederik van den Brandt, consisting of atmospheric americana and soulful country-rock.”(transl.)
